79/366 About a month ago my photo club organised a series of trips to an interesting location not far from Zurich. I was able to take part in the final outing and took my trusty Rolleicord camera with me along with two large handfuls of 120 film. We arrived in the dark, but the rain made it soon apparent that we weren’t going to receive any interesting light at sunrise. That was fine by me, though. Inspired by several film photographers and their minimalist styles I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to achieve that morning. Over the following couple hours we walked along the country roads and I experimented with simple and high contrast compositions, exposing almost four full rolls of film in the process.
Wet as it was, I knew the pavement would reflect the brightness of the sky and make a great counterpoint to the surrounding ground. And so I came to take this photo, likely my favourite of the trip and definitely one of my strongest images of the year thus far.

That’s a really strong image indeed, well worth a large baryta print!

Thank you, sir! I will absolutely make a print on the weekend, though only an inkjet one for now. Our dark room is at work and currently locked-down. 😦
