91/366 As it approached the time to set sail again and return to Helsinki, we left the old town of Tallinn and headed down to the waterfront. Under the baking Summer sun most visitors were interested in working on their tans or taking a dip. I, on the other hand, was trying to figure out how to use a super wide lens to take photos that didn’t look like total chaos due to the number of competing elements in them. So I tried along the shoreline. However, it isn’t the subject matter that excites me here, rather the low-fi presentation. Hard blacks and whites and lots of grain, this was more or less the antithesis of m digital photography at that time.
As we set sail on the ferry and said goodbye to Tallinn after a full Summer’s day of exploration, we were left with mixed feelings. Certainly, the trip had to go on and there were still many exciting days in front of us, but it was the feeling of regret of having to leave too soon that accompanied us on our way back. I guess that is the sign that we will have to make our way back and continue our exploration of this lovely city in the not too distant future.
