Old stones

108/366 Shortly before my trip to Greece, I was talking with an associate and telling him about my plans for photography there. “Going to photograph old stones, are you?” was his reply. I was quite shocked to hear the historical legacy of one of the great civilisations being described as a bunch of ‘old stones’ and I felt an immediate disconnect from the conversation. To me, the remains of the columns pictured in my image below are much more than ‘old stones’. They serve to connect us to the people that inhabited the ancient world, their deeds and dramas, loves and losses. And yes, I photographed them. In fact, I even enjoyed it.
