Street photography?

124/366 I *think* I get street photography. The recording of life in public spaces, observation and inside jokes, but there is one particular form of it that I don’t really understand. So much of what I see labelled as street photography is typified by a person walking past a building. Sometimes there is an advertisement and a humorous or witty connection can be made to the person walking by. But a lot of the time this isn’t the case. Is there something I am missing?
On the way home from our last photo club meeting before lockdown I was inspired to make some images. It was extremely dark and even with pushing the film to 1600 ISO I was struggling to get usable shutter speeds. This church was somewhat better illuminated than everything else and I really liked the way that the lights reflected of its facade. I lined up the composition and then waited for this gentleman to walk on through, so making my contribution to a sub-genre of photography that I don’t really understand.
