129/366 Often when we travel, we find it difficult to escape the cities and their easy to explore surrounds. Getting out into nature normally means acquiring a form of personal transport, which we are not really fans of. Further to this, we have both never been fans of packaged tours, but in manageably small groups they have proved their use in allowing us to see a number of interesting attractions in a short time, not to mention the valuable information that can come from a well informed guide.
We desperately wanted to see more of Greece than just Athens in the short time we had available to us, so we booked a day tour of the Peloponnese with a local operator. Despite our reservations about this type of tourism, we had a wonderful time away from the city and it fueled our desire to spend more time out on the land in future trips.
It also allowed me to take a few landscape images like this one here, which was made from the top of the Archaeological Site of Mycenae.
