156/366 On a whim, we decided to spend a long weekend in Ticino early this year. This was before the virus took the region by storm and was the last trip away we would make for many months.
Perhaps we were lucky with our timing, but even in Winter we found the region to be beautifully sunny and so made a great escape from the bleak greys of Winter in northern Switzerland. The plan for the trip was to get out of the cities and do some hiking, but we did find time on the first day to explore Ascona on foot. This was an absolute treat under the warm Winter sunlight and it is easy to see why the town is popular with tourists and residents alike.
