On gentleness

255/366 One other attribute of vintage lenses tends to be the softness of their rendering, often referred to as a lack of sharpness. Now I understand the pursuit of technical perfection and that sharpness is a positive attribute when one is attempting to reproduce reality in a frame, but does all photography have to be a reproduction of reality? I’m firmly in the no camp and will continue to try to produce my photographic impressions using all the tools available to me.
