Tree portrait #1

14/366 I am sure that you are all familiar with portraits of people or even animals, but why not take portraits of plants or trees? Sure, they may not have faces, but each has its own character and is a mirror for its experiences. I feel like I slightly messed up with the framing on this one, but I absolutely love the detail in the bark and so I just had to include it.

    1. 35 years! That’s very impressive!
I have the feeling that trees and plants do not get the same attention as people or animals, because they do not spend the time to get to know their personalities. Which is a shame, as it is could definitely help to create a personal connection to these living entities and all the benefits that such respect would lead to.

      1. You’re right. I don’t think of myself as the esoteric type but I’m pretty sure that trees, during their life spans of sometimes 100+ years, must develop some kind of individual, hm, experience. Sadly we humans only get a glimpse of that after their deaths, via dendrochronology…

      2. Yes, indeed. For me it is also a question of respect. They may not have the capacity to share their experiences with us, but are deserving of our respect and protection all the same.
