The famous one

105/366 The view of the Matterhorn across the Riffelsee is what everyone, including us, comes for and the numbers of tourists flooding out of the trains at the Rotenboden station pays tribute to that. We took the road less travelled and hiked down from Gornergrat, which was far more challenging than the simple stroll we had expected. One reason for this was definitely the altitude, it was so amazing how quickly we ran out of breath during periods of exertion.
A cloud had firmly affixed itself to the top of the Matterhorn this day, obscuring its peak. The view was beautiful all the same and it would have been a great place for a picnic had we had the time.
Our long weekend in Zermatt was amazing and we are definitely hoping to return to the region again soon!
