Learning the old ways

236/366 When I was first getting into film photography just a year or two ago, there seemed to be a bewildering array of film types and it has taken me some time to get a firm idea of how the various films (should) look and how best to use them. Little did I know this was just the tip of the iceberg.
Through online marketplaces I was able to get in touch with some retired photographers and purchase their stores of unused film. During this process I’ve discovered so many different types of film that have been discontinued such as this Kodak Ektar 25, which expired back in 1991. Because of their age, the films tend to be quite grainy after development and with a lower dynamic range. Despite this, I have had a lot of fun trying them out!

    1. Ah, so it was well known back in the day, then? I must admit I haven’t seen it turn up in any photographic archives I’ve gone through.
I could send you a couple of rolls of a few different expired films if you’d like. A sampler bag of film would be a just reward for your support of my project. 🙂

      1. Hi, this actually sounds tempting … I must admit though that I’m doing very little analogue photography lately, as my occupation is almost eating me up this year. I couldn’t promise to come up with presentable results in 2020 🙂
